4-Chloro-3,5-dimethylphenol(PCMX )is an efficient broad spectrum low-toxicity antibacterial agent. It has good efficacy in antibacterial to gram-positive, gram-negative, epiphyte and mildew, recognized as a one of the main antibacterial agents by FDA. It has good chemical stability. The solubility in water is 0.03%. It is freely soluble in ethanol (96%); freely soluble in ether, in terpenes and in fixed oils. It dissolves in solutions of alkali hydroxides.
